Vrishaketu | Modi Times | Kolkata | Jan 02, 2014:: Today some 40-50 BJP (Yuva Morcha) activists visited Kolkata International Book Fair. Lead by Sri Raju Banerjee, Sri Chandrashekhar Basotia, Sri Sandip Bose, Sri Debjit Sarkar and myself, we roamed the Book Fair ground wearing MODI MASKs and extended invitation for our Brigade rally in the form of pamphlets and cards to all the visitors and book lovers there. We received overwhelming support from the common people there.
Many youth and children took Modiji’s masks from us. We didin’t raise any slogan or addressed any public meeting. We were just inviting people for Modiji’s rally, democratically and peacefully.

Suddenly personnel from Kolkata & Bengal police surrounded us and forcefully prevented us from discharging our democratic right and political duty. First they forcefully removed all Modi-masks from our faces and then snatched our invitation pamphlets, invitation cards and even hundreds of Modi Masks from all our individual possessions.
We faced intimidation and threat. Still the most saddening and revolting part of all this is that, few of the policemen including senior officers tore apart Modiji’s masks and threw them away in the most undignified manner, showing total disrespect to one of the most senior leaders of our country, who also holds a constitutional post of a serving Chief Minister of a state. We were badly shoved and pushed outside the fair ground by policemen outnumbering our numeric strength.
All this happened in a Book fair where the ruling party as well as the main opposition party is having their official stalls and are carrying out with all sorts of political campaigns through all sorts of printed materials. Ruling party leaders and ministers are making a beeline for this fair. Are they refraining from political activities? Even AAP volunteers were allowed to enrol members within the fair ground. Even the Congress party leaders addressed a public meeting within the fair complex a few days back. All are allowed but not the BJP.
